In 2022, Shell
challenged CAN, a company that pioneered rope access in the Gulf, to reduce rope
access through drone use. The program was called "Eliminating Rope Access".
Rather than treat that as a threat, CAN leaned into the same pioneering instinct that built its rope-access
business and applied it to drones. |
The Result: A
pioneering program where inspectors lead, not follow. Leading to CAN becoming one of the largest
and most active offshore drone inspection programs in the world and innovating the industry. CAN now operates with 2,052 completed
inspections in 2025 - a 3,377% increase from 2022. |
